- Subject: Trumpet Winsock tuning?
-
-
- Has anyone done much performance testing with the Trumpet Winsock parameters?
- Or can you shed some light on where the optimum values might lie? I've
- been wandering the net for only a couple of weeks and I'm almost overwhelmed by
- everything I've found so far.
-
- Right now, I'm working pretty well with what I think are the defaults for
- compressed SLIP - MTU=255, RWIN=1024, MSS=215. I have both CSLIP and modem
- compression turned on. I connect at 14.4 and the ports run 38.4 kbps.
-
- Would there be an advantage in turning modem compression OFF? Or would
- larger packets be better and let the modems compress? I toyed with a
- couple of settings, but my system isn't yet really stable enough (I'm
- trying out too many alternative apps).
-
- I'd appreciate any help from the more experienced.
-
- Thanks.
